EXTENSION OF HOURS
PLAN NOT CONSIDERED MINISTER’S STATEMENT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. “No such scheme is under consideration,” said the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, when a strong rumour that the Government was preparing a plan for the extension of working hours, was referred to him.
He added there would be no variation in awards until all parties concerned had been consulted. The Minister termed as incorrect a suggestion that a section of the railway servants were to be placed on a 44-hour week,
