LOSSES OF POTATOES

The extensive loss of crops of early potatoes in the Napier district as the result of Friday's heavy frost is the more serious because of the present shortage of supplies. In the Taradale area a two-acre crop of plants several inches high was severely damaged, and numerous instances have been reported of the loss of smaller crops in all parts of the district. Early tomatoes and certain early blossoming varieties of fruSt also suffered.
