COOK COUNTY COUNCIL

STATE OF ROADS NGATAPA CTvTTIC STOCK ON HIGHWAYS The Cook County Council met today, there being present Crs. W. G. Sherratt, chairman, S. T. Gray, P. D. Tom'bleson, F. S. Bowen, H. G. Smith, E. H. Baker, M. T. B. Hall. J. E. Benson, G. V, Smith, J, T. Gordon raid M L. Holden.

Mr. W. D. Cook, Eastwoodhill station, Ngatapa, protested against his high rates, claiming that the roads in his district were a "disgrace to the council,” and this was at a time when he was paying the highest rate he had ever .paid.—lt was decided to reply to Mr. Cook pointing out that the rate struck by the council this year was slightly lower than last year and also that the ever-increasing hospital rate was making it difficult for the council.

Mr. A. Cameron wrote asking that attention should be given to the road to his property.—The matter was deferred until January.

The district engineer, Mr. O. G. Thornton, wrote urging that the county ranger should give attention lo wandering stock on the main East Coast highway in the vicinity of Pouawa and Whangara.—The matter was referred to the ranger.
