WANGANUI M.P. ENLISTS PROMINENT VOLUNTEERS (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. Mr. J. B. Gotterill, Labour M.P. for Wanganui, was among those who enlisted in the New Zealand force lor service at" home and overseas. Among those passed for service are C. N. Armstrong, a Wanganui City Councillor, F. R. Chittey, district manager of the State Advances Corporation, L. E. Northover, a Wanga-" nui representative Rugby player, J. G. Farrell, a noted horse trainer, C. L. Pleasants, of Wanganui Collegiate School, J. A. Woolford, a teacher at Aramoho public school, R. Hunter, a son of Jimmy Hunter, the 1905 All Black 'and Wanganui representative Rugby player, A, D. W. Coolcott, a master at Wanganui Technical College. Consequent on the acceptance of Mr, Armstrong, the Citizens’ League majority on the City Council disappears and Labour and Citizens are now of equal strength with six members each, with the Labour Mayor, Mr. W. J. Rogers having the balance of power through his casting vote.
