According to a survey by the American Institute of Public Opinion, only 16 per cent of Americans are in favour of sending their army and navy against Germany at present, but 44 per cent want co intervene if Britain and France appear to be losing within the next few months.

Eighty-two per cent believe that the Allies will win without American armed assistance, while 49 per cent think that the war will end within a year.
