The promotion of Lieutenant J. W. Bain and W. Bourke, First 'Battalion, Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to live rank of captain has been Gazetted. On Saturday at the Park Golf Club. Mr. P. A. Gavin, who is leaving shortly for Auckland, was made a presentation by fellow-members of a handsome golf bag and umbrella. Mr. J. Slipper spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr. Gavin’s happy associations with the club and wished him every success in his new sphere. Mr. Gavjn suitably replied,
