TRACK AND STABLE

WORK AT THE PARK JUNGLE KING SPRINTS By "Trenton” There was very little work of an interesting nature at the Park racecourse on Saturday morning, most of the horses 1 being restricted to pace work. However-, Jungle King drew attention to his chances in the near future by comfortably holding Waikawa at the end of half a mile in 50 4-ssec.

Kahuroa and Rough Passage took 52 l-ssec. for the same distance. Millions did two rounds of pace work and sprinted the last two furlongs in 27sec. Old Kahunoke is getting through some solid pace work and he will be in good order for the Hunt Club’s meeting if he continues to stand up to his preparation.

Trainer A. McDonald has Mimicry and Whetu looking very well. ■ Minnow, who is to make her debut as a hurdler at the forthcoming Turf Club fixture, is improving in condition. There is no doubt about her ability to jump.

i Trainer J. Nixon’s team has been reduced by Black Thread being turned out. Raana is also spelling, but it will only be for a week. Members of this trainer’s team in work are Mendelssohn and Pennycomequick. Reay Bridge, under Trainer W. Turnbull’s care, is another to be tried over hurdles. He has jumped well in schooling and appears to be nearing his best.
