HIGHER FREIGHT RATES
PACIFIC SHIPPING FIRMS (Reed. Sept. 18, 9 a.m.) PORTLAND. Sept. 16. Following the announcement that British, Japanese and American companies were increasing east-bound Pacific freight rates by 20 per cent, action has been taken by Pacific westbound shipping concerns to increase freight rates by 20 per cent as from September 25, with a minimum rate of 30s per ton on general cargo.
