Replying to complaints by Maori canoe-makers at Ngaruawahia regarding unfair financial treatment by life Government. the Minister of Internal Affair::, the Hon. W. E. Parry, in a let'er to Mr. R. Eyre. Mayor of Nearuawahia, sa: I that the Government had granted so l ar £2129. including sustenance to the men. It was expected that a iurther £259 would be paid in sustenance, making the total of Government assistance £2379.
