Mr. E. T. Doddreli, jim„ who has been ill for some time, is to have recovered sufficiently to enable him to resume business in two weeks. Because of the unsettled conditions occasioned by the outbreak of war the Wanganui City Council has decided to accept an offer by the retiring town clerk, Mr. G. Murch, to remain in office until December 31, when the position will be reviewed. Mr. Murch had in‘cnded to retire on September 30 and Mr. C. R. While, chief cleric, was to become town cleric.
