PRISONER IN GERMANY
DOMINION AIRMAN BROADCAST TO N.Z. (P«r Press Association.) * AUCKLAND, this day. In a broadcast heard by radio from a German station about 12.30 to-day, the speaker said he was Pilot-Offi-cer L. H. Edwards, Patea, who was reported to be the first New Zealand casualty in the war, having been broughr ciown in the British airraid on Wilhelmshaven.
The broadcast was heard by Mr. E. Greenhalgh, an engine driver, Grey Lynn, who heard a German announcer speaking in English say that Pilbt-Officer Edwards would broadcast to tell his people in New Zea-
land how well he was being treated. Pilot-Officer Edwards then spoke, saying lie was calling New Zealand to assure anyone who heard him that ho was being well treated, his only inconvenience being that he was under armed guard. He spoke for a few minutes, but owing to the poor reception it was difficult to “car all he said except his reiteration that he perfectly well
