AUSTRALIAN INCREASES
GOLD MINING PROFITS
(Reed. Sept. 16, 9 a.m.) CANBERRA, Sept. 15
The Assistant Treasurer, detailing the Commonwealth supplementary taxation, announced a further increase in company tax, bringing it to 2s in the £l, also a wartime gold mining profit tax of 75 per cent on the price of gold over £9 (Australian currency) per fine ounce. The company and gold mining profit tax will together yield £2,500,000 for the remainder ol' 1939-40.
