INVASION AFTER SUPPRESSION OF POLES

Up To Four Million Men Believed Under Arms (Elec. Tel. Copyright.—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 16. 12 noon.) LONDON, Sept. 15. The Copenhagen correspondent reports that circles close to the Wilhemstrasse confidently expect that Russian troops will invade Poland as soon as the Polish Army’s resistance is ' 3 finally shattered by the Germans. The garrisons on the Soviet’s south-west frontiers were recently increased from 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 men. it is estimated that the Russians have 4,000,000 men under arms. l't is stated that the Soviet is expected to occupy the Polish Ukrainia and White Russia while Germany advances eastward to this position and another partition of Poland would thus be consummated. The Berlin correspondent of the United Press of America says that some of the Germans are even predicting that Russia will take military action against Poland within a few davs as a reprisal for Polish violations of the frontier, but there appears to be no responsible basis for this prediction. A Moscow message states that an additional 1,000,000 recruits were called up to-day under the recent military service law. The journal Pravda explains that this is to “avoid being caught unawares.” The Moscow correspondent of the Associated Press of America reports that the United States Embassy has advised Americans having no compelling reason for staying in Russia to leave.
