O’BRIEN THE WINNER CLUB POINTS SCORERS LITTLER’S GOOD EFFORT By “Emergency” With a lead of 27 points over his nearest opponents, the Marist goalkicking. forward, Matt O'Brien, finished a clear leader in. the number of individual points scored in club matches during the 1939 Rugby season. O'Brien bad a bad day on Saturday and, alter lucking only one goal from a try, he was injured and came off the field. In his bag c (5-1 points O'Brien scored two tries and kicked 13 conversions and 11 penalties. Two tries to O’Brien in a season is a good bag as, in the previous two seasons he had failed to seme a try in club football. Next to O'Brien on the list are Harold Littler, Old Bovs, and C. Gardner, H.5.J.8., both with 37 points. Littler’s performance is the more meritorious as the Old Boys’ player missed several games during the season as a result of injuries. The best oag of tries is,, credited to W. Hoy, Marist, who crossed the line on nine occasions. Swann, Old Boys, is next with so on tries, followed by McGrannachan, Marist, McKin’o-. Celtic, and McAntney, Celtic, each with five tries. The 10 leading scorers for the season in club matches or y are as follows:
