YOUNG FARMERS IN WAR
CALL TO CARRY ON COUNCIL MEMBER’S PLEA (Special to tho Ilnrald.) WAIROA, this clay. An appeal to all young farmers’ clubs to continue with their activities during the war period is made by Mr. W. G. Brownlie, chairman of the Northern Hawke’s Bay district committee and representative of Poverty Bay and of northern and southern Hawke’s Bay districts on the emergency committee of the movement, t Mr. Brownlie appeals to all clubs to continue with their meetings as usual, but to curtail any unnecessary club activities. Last week he attended a meeting of the emergency committee in Wellington, and he quoted the appeal of the Dominion president, Mr.
!•; W. Barnett, to do their utmost to keep the activities of the clubs i'.r operation.
“Since that meeting last week,” Mr. Brownlie added, “conditions hare been somewhat improved by the allowance of 10 gallons of petrol per car each month, and there appears no lemon why members should not attend monthly meetings of the clubs. Of course it is necessary to omit any unnecessary activities from the programmes, but there is no reason to curtail the monthly meetings,
“As a member of the emergency committee representing Poverty Bay and northern and southern Hawke’s Bay, I would invite the co-operation of every member and every farmer to assist the council and the federation to parry an. We need your support and wc have confidence that all will rise to the occasion. A meeting of the Dominion executive will be held at the end of September, and any decisions made at that meeting will be communicated to the clubs.”
