At New York in 1932 a newspaper promoted a novel contest for golfers who at. one time br another had holed in one. In an endeavour to accomplish the feat deliberately, 217 professional and amateur golfers played five shots each to a hole 129 yards in length. The nearest shot finished 25 inches from the pin, while only 24 of the 1085 shots came within lon feet of the hole.
