GREEK EXTRADITED
CHARGE OF FRAUD WARRANT FROM SYDNEY (Por Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. An application for an extradition order was made in the Police Court yes'erday against Gregory Psaltis, a G'reek fruiterer, aged 29, who appeared before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. The accused was charged that at Sydney, on July 5, he did falsely pretend to Jabez Lyons that property enumerated in schedules of contract for the 1 sale of a business in Darlinghurst road was the sole and bona fide property of Gregory Psaltis and, by means of the said false pretence, he obtained about £2136.
Detective-Constable H. W. Miller, attached to the criminal investigation branch of the New South Wales Police Department, produced a warrant and asked for an order for the accused to be returned to Sydney. Mr. Sanderson, who appeared for the accused, asked that the order be not made until a ship left for Sydney, otherwise the accused might have to be held in custody in the meantime.
After taking time to consider the matter, the magistrate decided to make the order.
