MARINE WAR RISKS

INSURANCE FOR SHIPPERS ALTERNATIVE COVER The quotation by insurance companies dealing in marine insurance of pool and non-pool rates for war risks on overseas cargoes has caused a little confusion among importers. On inquiry among business houses in Autkland, it was learned that the war risks pool at 5s per cent war risk, which operated in the early stages, has now ceased to exist, and the British Government's war risks scheme has been brought into operation under a new department of the Board of Trade. The rates ruling under this scheme are as follows: —• AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND Outward Homeward Per cent Per cent Via Panama .. 40/- 50/Via Cape 50/- 60/Insurance under this arrangement may be effected by shippers in London, but trading concerns may also effect, war risks insurance locally, the rates for which are higher than the British Government’s scheme.
