Tlie Washington correspondent of the Associated Press of America says that President Roosevelt appears 'to be assured of the support of the majority of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee lor some form ol his proposal to sell arms to belligerents It was revealed that Senator Van Nuys is ready to further the cash-and-carry idea if America were properly safeguarded. He said: “My sympathies are with Europe’s democracies.” It is notable that he was among the 12 Senators who delayed consideration of the repeal of the arms embargo last session.
