GATHER-ING POSTPONED Owing to conditions that have followed the outbreak of war, the Auckland Rotary Club has decided to postpone the forum which was to have been on September 29 and 20 in Rotorua. The new president, Mr. C. K. Grierson, announced this week that the directors had decided that in view of the emergency regulations governing the supply of petrol and the unsettled conditions in the country it would not be opportune to hold the forum as arranged. It would therefore bo postponed for at least a month beyond the date fixed.

ECONOMY ADVISED The necessity for strict economy in 'he use of materials of every kind lias been impressed upon members of the staff of ~a large Auckland firm. The staff had been advised that the importation of supplies has been drastically curtailed and stocks must be carefully conserved. It is probable hat similar instructions will be issued by other firms to assist in the genera! vonomy which will be necessitated by the war.
