TRAIN STOPPED
SHED SEEN ON FIRE
DREW ROUSE HOUSEHOLD
The first knowledge that a shed on his property was in flames early on Monday morning was brought to Mr. W. IT. Rudkin, of Startford, when a train was stopped and the crew aroused him with the news. The shed was almost entirely destroyed but the flames were prevented from spreading to the dwelling occupied by Mr. -Rudkin.
The property is close to the railway line and members of the crew of a train which passed about 5 a.m. could not fail to notice the flames. -Fearing that the house might be in danger while the occupants were sleeping, they decided to stop the train and investigate.
The train whistle was used vigorously and after going to the house and waking the sleeping household, the railwaymen assisted in endeavouring to quell the blaze with buckets of water.
