SYDNEY ASCOT RACING WIN FOR TE lIERO (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 14, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 13. Two Epsom candidates, Te Hero and Denita, finished first and third in the first division of the Flying Welter Handicap at the Ascot meeting to-day. Te Hero, who recently was given barrier practice, jumped away well to-day and won in a course record time, but not exactly Epsom time. Details of results are:—

Flying Welter, First Division: Te Hero, 9.6 (Scanlon),"l; Salamyne, 7.12 (Hughes), 2 ; Denita, 8.12 (Cook) 3. Twelve started. Won by a length, with two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.14, a course record.

Jumpers’ Flat Race —Silver coat, 10.0 (Porter), 1; Padale, 9.7 (Kennedy), 2; Linklet, 9.7 (Hood) 3. Nine started. Won by 21 lengths, with half a length between second and third. Time, 1.291, a race record.

DEFAULTER SCRATCHED (Reed. Sept. 14, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 13. Defaulter has been scratched from the next two Saturday meetings, namely Rosehill and Hawkesbury and his trainer will make an announcement on Sunday next, whether Defaulter will remain for the spring campaign or return to New Zealand forthwith.
