POVERTY BAY CLUB (IHAMPION.SIfIT SERIES FINAL STAGES REACHED The final stages of the men’s championship at the Poverty Bay Golf Club have been reached and the final will be played next week-end. During the past week-end the closing stages in the majority of the tournaments still open for decision were reached In the championship semi-finals E. S. Toogood beat D. B. Barry, 5 and 4, and R. I. Harrison beat W. D. Barker at the nineteenth. In the Hutchinson Cup semi-finals D. M. Mclldowie beat J. T. Dodgshun, 2 up, and R. P. Baigent beat F. Fenwick, 3 and 2. One semi-final was played in the Ormond cup and this resulted in a win lor R. W. J. Edwards, who defeated E, Fitzmaunce, 2 and 1. The Bree Handicap Cup was completed, the trophy going to I. L. Boagey, who beat J. Atkins, 2 and 1 in the final. One semi-final was played in the No. 2 handicap tournament, A. K. Russell beating A. P. Blair, 2 up. Three semi-finalists in the No. 1 tournament are J. T. Dodgshun, E. Jenkinson and G. W. Willock, there being one more match to be played in the quarter finals in this series. The annual inter-club games with players from the Tolaga Bay and Wairoa clubs will be played at the week-end, each visiting team being expected to be of 20 players. PARK LADIES'’ CLUB The best card for last Thursday at the Park Golf Club was handed in by Mrs. Brown, 97 —24 —73, Mrs. Lee, 107—33—74, being second. This week members take part in the September vase test round in both sections. The draw is:—Mrs. Vickers and Mrs. Lawrence; Miss Winter and Mrs. Pere; Miss McGhee and Mrs. Brown: Mrs. Lee and Mrs. McDonald; Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Duncombe; Mrs. Swainson and Mrs. Woodrow; Mrs. Halbert and Mrs. Lunken; Miss Gordon and Mrs. Marlev; Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Wells; Mrs. Tamihana and Mrs. Alley; Mrs. Forbes and Mrs. Michie; Miss Popple and Mrs. Johnston: Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Robertson; Mrs. Bayliss and Mrs. Hughes. Players are to be ready to start at 11.15 a.m. unless it is otherwise arranged with the partner.
