The Danish press reports that a German warship was destroyed by a floating mine of! Trelleborg last night. Ten members of the crew were killed. A German trawler rescued the remainder. A Swedish steamer’s crew witnessed' the incident from a distance. An Oslo report states the German steamer Rugostinnes was stranded on Lofoten islands. Twelve British merchant ships have been sunk since the declaration of war Shelled by Submarine A Horta report states that the British freighter Gartavon was shelled and sunk in the Atlantic by a submarine, according to 24 members of the crew whom the Swedish steamer Castor landed there.
A message from New York slates the United States lines reported that a freighter, American Shipper, rescued 32 members of the crew of the British steamer Blairlogie, which was torpedoed in mid-Atlantic.
The Ministry of Information has announced that the ship Magdapur was sunk with some casualties, while there were no casualties in the sinking of the Rio Clara. No details are available.
Thousands of holidaymakers watched from the coast the steamer Magadapur, of 8641 tons, sink after a loud explosion. Coastal lifeboats assisted in the rescue of the crew. The Blairlogie was a ship of 3071 tons built in 1912, the Gartavon. 1796 tons built in 1921, the Magdapur 8641 tons built in 1921 and the Rio Clare 4080 tons built in 1922.
