TRACK AND STABLE
TAKANINI PROSPECT ORELIO WORKING WELL TRIAL PLATE FANCIES GLENCONNELL IN FORM By “Trenton” Judging by the manner in which he ,has been getting through his work, Orelio will be Takanini’s best prospect for immediate engagements. The Limond—Waterwings colt has already revealed on the track his brilliance of last season. He is to compete in the Champion Hack Plate and Avondale Guineas, and in the former event is likely to take a lot of beating despite the fact that he will be meeting horses like Hagen and Our Jean. Worse for Wear Maxam returned to Takanini from the Taranaki meeting a little the worse for wear, having apparently suffered a recurrence of the muscular soreness which affected her last season, She is really a lot better than her most recent form would indicate. Round Up’s Mission There seems no further indication that Round Up will undertake a trip to Australia and the Lord Qu'ex gelding is not being hurried in his present preparation. His mission this season will undoubtedly be the Auckland Cup.
Both Doing- Well The stable mates Bonnybelle and British Talent are doing a good preparation at Ellerslie in view of their engagements at the Avondale meeting. British Talent has not had much experience, but is showing plenty of speed in his wrok and promises to develop into a useful sort. Bonnybelle has had plenty of racing, but has only once been in the money.
Making Good Headway
During the brief period that Silver Quex has been in commission she has made good headway, and is now bowling along very freely in her work. At her best this sister to Round Up is a smart galloper, and she should continue to pay her way.
Plate Prospect
One of the most promising gallopers at Takanini is Glenconnell, a maiden colt by Surveyor, who is regularly setting the main at headquarters. He needs only to reproduce his form in private to prove equate to the task of extending the best company. He will not lack support in the Trial Plate at Avondale next Saturday.
Exercise Canter for Ajax “To see how h’e was going in the straight, I gave him a kick, and he nearly jumped from under me,” said H, Badger, rider of Ajax, to the horse’s trainer, F. Musgrave, after the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield. That tells the whole story of Ajax’s easy win. Recommissioned Rebel Lad has been put into work again by D. Cotton, and the Robespierre gelding looks in sound and robust condition to undergo another preparation. Cotton is also now training the four-year-old gelding Pink Lad, by Pink Coat from Carette, dam of Locksley.
Unlucky Maiden Miss Valerie is showing a lot of clash in her work at Takanini, and the Vaals filly is ready to make her presence felt in maiden events. Considered very unlucky in not being returned a winner before this, she should not be long in the novice ranks. She is engaged in the Trial Plate at Avondale.
