INJURIES PROVE FATAL
HUTT ROAD COLLISION CAR HITS STEAM SHOVEL DRIVER DIES IN HOSPITAL (Par Projs Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. When the car he was driving along the Western Hutt road collided with a Public Works Department steam shovel, shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, John Campbell Peacock, a well-known, barrister and’ 1 solicitor, of Wellington, received head injuries which resulted in his death in hospital an hour and a half later. The other occupants of the car, Mrs. Peacock, Miss Margot Pbacock, and Mrs. J. W. G. Brodie, were not injured.
The steam shovel was being towt. along the road by a motor truck, wnn a second motor truck following immediately behind to give more light. The car passed the first motor truck, and collided with the steam shovel, a footboard around the latter vehicle, about sft. from the ground, breaking through the car’s windscreen, and striking Mr. Peacock on (Tie head.
