INSPIRING MESSAGES
SUPPORT FOR BRITAIN NATIVE RACE RULERS JUSTICE OF CAUSE (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 9. According to information released by the Ministry of Information, Persian Gulf chief rulers have sent inspiring messages of support to the King.
The Shiekh of Bahrein, an independent Aram state, has asked tie British Government to accept his assurance of all the support which he and his people can provide. The Shiekh of Koweit and the Shield! of Dabai believe in the justice of the British cause and wisn to offer their services and resources. The devoted loyalty of 20,000.000 Nigerians and the determination to da all they can to aid the British Government is being expressed in spontaneous -messages from chiefs and communities of people all over v lhe country.
In Syria, the Leibanese community • —many of whom come from the French mandated territory of Syria—are among those who hatfe offered every possible assistance. It is reported from Malta that there have been many offers to join the auxiliary services and that women are proving particularly keen volunteers.
In the Barbadoes the reasons for England’s answer to the challenge of the Nazi rulers are thoroughly understood.
In Zanzibar the population is solidly with the British Government. A leading Cairo newspaper, A 1 Jehad, strongly supports the declaration of loyalty made by groups of Arab notables in Jaffa to the acting district commissioner.
The colony of Ceylon has signified its whole-hearted support of Britain’s prosecution of the war by resolution of the State Council.
The Legislative Council of Tanganyika, at a special session, conveyed on behalf of the whole of the people of the territory, readiness to give wholehearted and willing service to Britain’s war.
Declarations of sympathy with Poland and appeals to Indians have been made by the Indian poet, Sir Rabindranath Tagore and other eminent Bengalis. The Indian National leader, Mr. Jahavavlal made a similar declaration.
