POPULAR FUNCTION WOMEN’S INSTITUTE BALL (Eterald Correspondent.) The Makaraka-Matawhero Hall proved the rendezvous of a large number of dancing enthusiasts last week, when the Makaraka-Matawhero Women’s Institute held its annual ball. The hall had been gaily decorated with coloured streamers, and made a fitting setting for the many pretty frocks worn by the dancers. The stage, where the orchestra was ensccnscd, was banked with masses of fern and greenery.
The varied programme of dancing was controlled by Mr. Hunter, the M.C., while the music was played by Mrs. Thomson’s orchestra. A sumptuous home-made supper was served by the ladies’ committee, the tables being decorated with masses of spring blooms in slender vases.

Jackson, primrose sheer; Mrs. Ashdown, black sheer; Mrs. O’Meara, black chiffon and gold coatee; Mrs. Chapman, navy figured sheer; Mrs. D. McCallum, navy sheer; Mrs. S. Kent, black chiffon velvet; Mrs. Edwards, parma velvet; Mrs. J. Parker, cerulean blue matte crepe; Mrs. N. Moore, black panne velvet; Mrs. A. McCallum, black velvet and silver lame: Mrs. Morris, cherry taffeta; Mrs. F. Dunstan, white satin: Mrs. R. Peach, white crepe elaine, trimmed with brown velvet; Mrs. A. W. Houghton, sea green satin; Mrs. T. McCallum, daffodil net appliqued in green; Mi\s. Howie, floral georgette; Mrs. Thomson, floral crepe romaine.
Miss O'Connell was frocked in floral faille; Miss M. Herbert, white georgette lace, and white fur coatee; Miss M. Rogers, chartreuse green shimmer satin; Miss N. Rogers, cherry lace; Miss F. McDonald, sienna satin; Miss E. Poulgrain, Little Boy Blue cloque; Miss L. Houghton, multi floral Viscoe silk; Miss F. Ginger, birthday pink satin; Miss Molly Cook, blue georgette; Miss Merle Cook, pink and silver striped georgette; Miss M. Lewis, gold self-patterned satin; Miss B. Ginger, stop red velvet, with white fur cape; Miss ,S. Chiles, green ninon; Miss M. Eade, amethyst spangled satin; Miss Fenton, emerald green taffeta.
