BLAMING OF BRITAIN

SINKING OF ATHENIA RADIO FROM BERLIN ATTITUDE TO FRANCE (Elec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sent. 8, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 7. A German short-wave broadcast declared that it was proved beyond doubt that a British submarine sank the Athenia on the orders of the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. Winston Churchill. The German also stated that Herr Hitler had spared no efforts to reach an agreement with France. The German Foreign Minister, Herr Von Ribbentrop, emphasised that Germany would take no aggressive action against France. The French, he said, should know that the Germans did not wish to revive the old struggle, but a French attack on Germany would spoil the chances of peace for generations.
