Lost Night’s Forecast General Situation: The -situation is of a westerly type, with a belt o! high pressure to the north and a series of depressions crossing the .southern Tasman and New Zealand. Forecast: Winds between north-west and south-west prevailing, and moderate to strong generally in force. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rather rough to rough on the West Coast and about Cook and Fovc-aux Straits; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman: Moderate to strong winds from a westerly quarter, and rather rough to rough seas. Weather: Changeable and showery in western areas and in the far south, elsewhere maiply fair but with occasional showers extending to eastern districts, also some thunderstorms possible. Temperatures: Moderate in the north, cool in the south, with some frosts. To-day’s North Island Report Steady atmospheric conditions and even temperatures prevailed all over the North Island this morning, the range of temperatures-being between 5:3 degrees at Auckland, Tauranga and East Cape, and 51 at Castlepoint. Winds were generally from the westerly. with a southerly tendency at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Auckland, and Napier, while Wellington reported a light breeze from the south-east, and East Cape’s report inidcated a south-south-east breeze. Blue skies with clouds in patches were reported from most stations, with overcast conditions at Auckland. Tiritin and Gisborne, visibility being good to excellent at all stations, and sea conditions smooth to moderate except at Tiritiri and Cape Palliser, where off-shore conditions were rough. Midday Forecast General Situation: Pressure over the Dominion has risen considerably since yesterday, but a new depression is advancing across the south Tasman Sea Forecast: Moderate south-westerly to north-westerly winds, some showers probable to-night but weather otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures: Becoming milder to-morrow. Seas: Slight to moderate.
