TWO RUGBY PLAYERS WAIROA UNION’S ACTION SENIOR .MATCH INCIDENT (Special to the Herald.) WATROA, this day. Two members of the Nuhaka team who were ordered off the field for allegedly kicking a player while he was on the ground during the Nuhaka v. Waipapa senior Rugby fixture last week, were bo'h suspended for the remainder of the football season bv the management committee of tile Wairoii County Rugby SubUnion at its meeting on Tuesday evening. The view was expressed that the sub-union could not tolerate anything of this nature during the course of play. So far this season only light penalties had been imposed and it. wtts considered that more drastic action should be taken. Forthcoming Matches In an endeavour to foster interest in the game at Tuai, it was deciclec. to send the Waipapa team to Tuai next Saturday to play Waikaremoana, me fixture being scfieduled to start at 2 p.m. The Rakaipaka team which was to have played .for the Tainui Cup in nuatoria on Saturday, will not now oe 'ravelling owing to East Coast having lost the Cup to the Bay oi Plenty representatives last Saturday. Arrangements were made to play a match, in aid of the centennial mads at Lambton Square on Saturday, September 23, the teams being i'e” Aute College Old Boys v. other Combined Secondary School Old Boys. The chairman, the Rev. C. E. I-Iyde, and the Rev. W. Huai ~ were appointed to select the Te Ante team, while Messrs. F. OHivier and W. G. Brownlie were appointed the selectors of the combined secondary school old boys’ team. The suggestion made by a deputation from the Athletic Football Club which waited on the sub-union a. its previous meeting, whereby it was noped to gain greater recognition of the country players in the .selection of the Hawke’s Bay representative side, were supported and the subunion decided to write to the Daniievirke, Central Hawke’s Bay and Taupo sub-unions suggesting that they consider tl.e following points; (1)" that a combined sub-union team play a Napier-Hastings team prior to the King’s Day match against Wairarapa; (2) that the team be selected by a selector either from nomination by the four sub-unions or by a trial game to be held in Napier or Hastings; (3) that a conference of delegates of the tour subunions be held either this season oi prior to the annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union in 1940.

Delegate From Schools As a result of the recent Ross Shield tournament held in Wairoa, it was resolved, on tl.e motion of the Rev. C. E. Hyde, seconded by Mr. A. S. Telfer, that a notice of motion be forwarded to the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union to the effect that the rules be amended to give the schools’ delegate on the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union the same power as other members of the manage merit committee. Owing to the fact that the Nuhaka v. Y.M.P. fixture was not played on August 26, the sub-union decided to withdraw its permission for the two clubs to play a friendly match later in the season. Fixtures For Saturday Tiie following fixtures were announced lor sacurnay next; —young Farmers’ Club team v. Wairoa Colts, No. 1 ground, 2.45 p.m. Curtain-Raiser. —Athletic Thirds v. High School, No. 1 ground, 1.30 p.m.
