Skeleton Unearthed

County workmen excavating spoil for the Centennial road at Maketu unearthed a skeleton and a portion of a gun oil which the maker’s name and the date 1842 were still visible. Maketu residents are of the opinion that further excavations may bring to light other relics of the early history of Maketu.
