AIR RAID SUCCESS
I EXCEED FIRST REPORTS ATTACKS ON GERMAN NAVY . (Reed. Sept. 7, noon.) LONDON, Sept. 6. An official bulletin issued at 2.20 a.m, to-day says there is reason to believe that the Royal Air Force attacks on German naval units were more successful than was originally reported. A Basle message quotes a radio broadcast stating that the German pocket battleship Gneisensu was sunk by the British raiding planes in the Wilhelmshaven attack. It also was said that French planes raided Frankfort-on-Main. It was not disclosed whether the broadcast referred to Monday’s Wilhelmshaven raid or to a new one.
