MOTORISED TROOPS

GERMAN ADVANCE CAPTURE OF TOWNS AID FROM THE AIR CASUALTIES REPORTED HITLER.’ S REGIMENT i (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept 7, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. G. A Berlin communique states that German mountain and motorised troops on a broad l'ront forced the northern exits of the Beskiden mountains and began a swift attack on Novysabz, while forces from the south and west drove the enemy into Crakow. Further north, Checiny, Lupussono and Pibtrkow were captured with the drive progressing along the eastern embankment of the Warta River towards Lodz. The East Prussian army took Cichanow and pressed the enemy southward. The German airmen were disturbing the enemy's traffic and lines of communication. Many railway lines were interrupted. The German casualties so far averaged four dead and 25 wounded per 10,000 men engaged. The German War Ministry in Berlin to-day announced the occupation of the fortified city of Bromberg and the industrial centre of Kielce. It is understood that the German losses were especially heavy around Tczew near Danzig among the regiment of Herr Hitler’s bodyguard. The German radio reports that Eschweiler and Itolberg, near Aschcn, were bombed from the air.

Berlin also reports that German planes raided the area between Warsaw and Lodz and shot down 11 planes which went up to engage them. Eschweiler is a Prussian town in the Rhineland, istanding on a large coalfield. The Diplomatische Korrespondenz says that Germany is, willing to bury the old struggle with France, but will resist unprovoked aggression.
