LABOUR LEADER MR. W. J. McKELL ELECTED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 7, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 0. Mr. J. T. Lang’s 17-year reign as the official leader of the New South Wales Labour Party ended yesterday, when in the first caucus ballot for thirteen years he was displaced by -0 votes to 12 by Mr. W. McKell.who was Minister for Justice in former Labour Ministeries. Mr. McKell is 47 years of age, and has represented the Redfern constiuency continuously for 17 years. He was originally a boilermaker. Mr. R. J. Heffron, the other candidate for leadership, secured only .oven votes.
