CALLS BY INSPECTORS HARASSING DENIED STATEMENT BY MAYOR A claim that she had been the subject of unfair treatment was made in a letter to the Gisborne Borough Council from Mrs. A. Drayton, last night, but this was denied by the Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman-, M.P., and no action was taken. “I think I have received calls from every inspector the council has got in its employ,” the letter stated. “I have been forced into making certain alterations to plant, to comply with the Act. “While appreciating the fact that it is necessary for one’s premises to be conducted in accordance with the Act, I feel that any person who is engaged in the same business should be subject to the same by-laws. I make bold to say that at the present time I am one of the very few who are complying with the’Act.” Everything in Order The Mayor said that one would imagine, by reading the letter, that (he new inspector had been harassing Mrs. Drayton. Mrs. Drayton had asked the inspector to have a look at the place, and the inspector had found everything in order. The Mayor added that he had put the matter before the town clerk, Mr. W. IVT. Jenkins, who had stated that other premises had been inspected, and the matter was being attended to The letter was received.
