LIQUOR TO NATIVES
FINE IN OPOTIKI THREATENING BEHAVIOUR (Special to tlm Hoi-ald.) OPOTIKI, this day. Stated by the police to have taken liquor to a Maori house and also with having behaved in a threatening manner, a Maori, Jim Puru, appeared before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Police Court in Opotiki yesterday. Puru was alleged to have gone to the .residence of Haenga Herewinl and, while under the influence of liquor, started an argument there. Hilton Crosswell, alleged to have supplied Puru with liquor for consumption off licensed premises, also appeared before Mr. Luxford. Puru was convicted and fined £1 gnd costs amounting to £1 9s, and Crosswell was convicted and fined £3 and costs.
