DINNER FOR VISITORS

SHIELD PRESENTED WELLINGTON SOCCER TEAM The Wellington soccer team were the guests of honour at a dinner held in Le Grand Cafe following the game with Poverty Bay on Saturday! Mr. J. J. Macdonald was in the chair. The following toast list was honoured, the name of the proposer being mentioned first in each instance:—“The King": "The New Zealand Council and the Wellington Soccer Association." Mr. J. ,J. Macdonald, response, Mr. J. J. Keane: “Poverty Bay Soccer Association," Mr. J. McLean, Mr. R. C. Waugh; "The Wellington team." Mr. .T. Watt, Mr., J. Shankic; “The Poverty Bay team,” Mr. T. McGinty. Mr. J. Crawford; “The Referee and Linesman,” Mr. R. Godshallc, Mr. V. Cusack: “Kindred Sports,” Mr. J. McLean. Mr. L. Cooper: "The Press.” The presentation of the Shield was made by Mr. j. T. Hill, who congratulated both teams on the line exhibition of the code which Ihcy had given.
