CALEDONIAN DRAW MAORIS’ STRONG TEAM' VVaituhl .... 2 goals Caledonian . . 2 Caledonian and Muriwai played a hard, drawn game, 2—all, in Gisborne on Saturday. The Caledonian forwards were in better form than on the previous Saturday, McLean making some nice runs down the left wing and Dougins making a good job of his new centreforward position. Slade was back to his usual standard. In the halves, Lowe again did the most work, while the full-backs were as steady as usual. Waituhi forwards showed more combination than for some time, and P. Smiler, inside left, and W. Srniler, centre, went well. In the halves, M. Smiler, centre, played good hockey and Tupara at full-’orok was again the main stumbling block .or his opponents. Ruru, .in goal, saved nicely. Caledonian scored a few minutes after the start as a result of a nice forward movement, the ball passing among most of those in the line, Slade finishing off from close quarters. Another shot appeared to go across the line before pulled out, but no goal was awarded. Soon afterwards, P. Smiler put the ball into the net from a long pass by Kingi, but Smiler was ruled off-side, and halftime came with Caledonian one up. Waituhi evened up within a minute of resumption, Pere taking the ball through from near half-way to score a spectacular goal. Waituhi scored again, King netting after a quick run down the right wing, while Harrison evened up with a good goal near the close.
