SOUTH CANTERBURY’S WIN
ASHBURTON GOES DOWN UNINSPIRING MATCH (Per Pirns Association.) TJMARU, this day. South Canterbury defeated Ashburton by 14 points to 8 on Saturday, after a game which, though evenly contested, lacked sparkle.' There was practically nothing between the packs, though the visitors should have made more use of possession of the ball from the scrums. The backs had plenty of openings, but lacked finish. The home team made some good efforts, having profited by the game against Southland, lout these were spasmodic. The score represented the merits of the teams on the clay.
