Last Night’s Forecast An anti-cyclone is centred near the Kermadecs, while an intense depression is moving on to .southern New Zealand. Barometers are rising to the west. Winds, fresh to strong, from northerly and north-westerly quarters, reaching gale force in some exposed positions, may be expected, with the possibility of a temporary change to south-westerly after about 24 hours. Seas will be moderate inshore, s6ul.li of the East Cape, becoming rough elsewhere. In the Eastern Tasman, strong northerly winds, with a change to strong westerly or south-westerly, arc advancing from the west. Seas rough. Forecast:—Further rain in probable in the western districts of the South Island, and rain gradually becoming more general; falls mainly light and scattered east of the ranges, from Otago northwards, but heavy in parts of the western districts, especially in the South Island, with some flooding. Temperatures moderate to mild. To-day’s North Island Report A ff o’clock temperature of (10 degrees was reported by Napier this morning, and Gisborne returned 60 degrees, other stations' readings ranging down to 40 at Wellington. Winds were generally from the northwest, and overcast or cloudy conditions prevailed at most stations. Cape Maria Van Diemen, Cape Palliser and Wellington reported rough seas, conditions elsewhere being smooth to moderate.
