y.) BULLS CATALOGUED Much interest is being taken in the offering of 13 bulls from Messrs. W. J. Olley and Sons’ Glen Oak Stud, Ormond, in the Poverty Bay Jersey Cattle Club's annual sale to be held on the showgrounds on October 5. Those catalogued comprise eight yearlings and five two-year-olds, all being well grown and in beautiful condition. It is perhaps the most classic consignment yet submitted fur auction at any cf the club's sales. Of the yearlings, all are sons of Bridge View Noble Rupert (72283). who has C.O.R. daughters up to 5841 b fat as junior two-year-olds. Six of these youngsters are from first class C.O.R. dams with butterfat records from 5341 b as senior two-year-olds up to 6331 b at four years, several dams having four and more Government official herd test records. Of the five two-year-old bulls, three are sons of Bridge View Noble Rupert and two are sons of Beaulieu Sungod (78280) from C.O.R. and Government official herd test dams producing from 2661 b .fat to 5841 b a,s junior two-year-old under C.O.R. test. A two-year-oid bull of special note is a son of Glen Oak Dot's Perfection, C.O.R. 5841 b fat and 10,1391 b milk as junior two-year-old, winner of the Poverty Bay Jersey ClubL production cup in 1938, and another is a son of Rosario Mintas Maid, Government O.H.T. 328.981 b fat as junior two-year-old. These bulls are by Beaulieu Sungod and Bridge View Noble Rupert respectively. Also for private sale there is male and female stock from proved butterfat dams, including the rising five-year-old breeding bull. Beaulieu Sungod (78280), son of Coronation's Cid (imp.) champion butterfat bull, with 13 C.O.R. daughters, and of Sbmeview Sunray, V.H.C., C.S.P. and gold medalist, C.O.R. 6311 b and 7611 b fat at two and three years. Excellent Figures

Excellent figures under Government certificate of record and official herd test systems have been secured during the past six years by the Glen Oak Jersey Stud. Since 1932, the Glen Oak Jersey Stud has gained 15 first and one second class C.O.R. certificates. The records range from 584.151 b fat as junior two-vear-olds and 770.601 b fat in 365 days at maturity. One cow, Darkie's Princess, h.c., won a gold medal fOr production, having produced 770.601 b fat and 12,3411 b milk in 365 days at .six years. This cow also had two further firstclass C.O.R. certificates, 468.361 b fat in 305 days as a senior two-year-old, and 623.641 b fat at four years in 365 days, as well as two Government official herd test records, 479.321 b fat in 263 days at five year? and 548.031 b fat in 281 days at, seven years. The heifer Glen Oak Dot's Perfection won the production cup awarded by the Poverty Bay Jersey Club for 1938, having produced 584.151 b fat in • 365 days as a junior two-year-old, 305.751 b fat over the minimum to qualify. Two other members of*the stud secured .second and third places. The cow, Darkie’s Princess, h.c.. is a daughter of Marshlands Superior, sire fo six C.O.R. daughters in this stud, these averaging 536.051 b fat in 355 days at four years 87 days, and six h.c. daughters. Had other Jersey breeders in Poverty Bay tested • daughters of Marshlands Superior, this sire would have been high up in the ranks as a champion butterfat bull.

Glen Oak Dot’s Perfection is a daughter of Bridee View Noble Rupert. which already has three C.O.R. daughters, with two further daughters unfinished producing 348.871 b and 313.481 b fat in 271 and 2(53 dnvs, respectively, as junior two-year-olds During the season, it is honed that, this bull will become a champion butterfat bull. Herd Test Records

The Government officials records are as follows from 1932 to 1939: — 1932, nine junior two-year-olds, daughters of Marshlands Superior, had an average production of 3301 b fat in 302 days; 1934, 13 were tested, comprising seven two-year-olds, three three-year-olds and three four-year-olds, the average being 350.841 b fat in 290 days; 1935, 15 tested, comprising eight junior two-year-olds, five three-year-olds and two five-year-olds, the average being 345.081 b fat in 271 days; 1930, 11 tested, comprising four two-.vear-olds, four three-year-olds, one four-year-old and two five-year-olds, the average production being 351.70ib fat in 283 days; 1937, 17 tested, comprising nine two-year-olds, four three-year-olds and four matured cows, the average production being 327.831 b faj. in 280 days; 1938-39, drought season, 10 tested, comprising eight two-year-olds, four three-year-olds and four matured cows, the average production being 249.321 b :lat in 218 days, up till March, 1939, when the Government CULT, cows were withdrawn from test owing to scrcvc conditions. All Government official herd test records are compiled with under ordinary herd conditions, whatever the conditions might be.
