Despite showery weather, there, was a large attendance for the first day of the combined Taranaki and Eg-mont-Wanganui Hunt Clubs’ meeting yesterday. The “tote" handled £14,102, compared with £11.059 10s on the first day last year, an increase of £3042 10s.

Following an inquiry after the first race, R. W. Savage, rider of the winner, was suspended from riding in races for one month on account of careless riding which led to interference with Bimbo.
