“BOYS’ TOWN” CREATED

PARISH PRIEST’S VENTURE

SYDNEY, Aug. 16,

The Rev, Father T. V. Dunlea parish priest at Sutherland, has founded a “boys’ town” near Sutherland, with the object of helping boys in need of care ancl guidance. He said that his scheme had been inspired by the film “Boys’ Town.”

Already six boys are in residence in a cottage, and they have elected as their mayor a boy whose name is Mickey Rooney—4he same as that of one of the leading players in the film. A superintendent and matron are in charge. “This will be the second venture of its kind in the world,” said Father Dunlea, “the other being in Nebraska, U.S.A. In my parish we have the big unemployed camp at Engadine, with up to 40 families, and I have seen vividly how necessary it is for the establishment of such a town for boys.
