FAT SHEEP MARKET

BEST SALE OF SEASON . : '■ % ■ ■ <■ ; STORE DEMAND BRISK MATAWHERO AUCTION A strong demand ruled in both the fat and store sheep sections of to-day’s Matawhero stock sale and the few head of fat cattle offered also sold remarkably well. Beef The values in the heef market- were; One Jersey ccw, medium finish, £5 3s; 1 good Jersey heifer, £6 16s; 1 Jersey cross' cow, medium finish, £5 2s 6d. Fat Sheep There was a full yarding of fat sheep, which met with the best sale of the season. The best price for ewes was 20s -10 d, with the bulk - of the entry realising from 17s Id to 19s Bd. Wethers went to 225, with medium sorts at from 16s 6d to 17s 9d. Hoggets made 15s for Those with good frames and 11s 9d for..medium-sized Southdowns. Store Sheep

There was a moderate yarding of store sheep, the sale toeing very brisk, with a firming tendency. Ewes with lambs made 16s 2d, 18s 4d and 18s 7d, with a poor lot at 10s 9d. Hoggets sold .at 13s 2d, with fairly good round about 10s to 11s. Ewe hoggets made from 17s 3d and 17s fid. A pen of good-conditioned ewes, now due to lamb, realised 16s 9d. Empty ewes made to 9s 9d. Prices:—

Ewes and Lambs.—. Sixty-one, fair condition, ewes, and about 61 undocked lambs, 10s 9d; 33 ewes, with condition, and 31 good lusty Southdown lambs, 18s 7d; 6 good condition ewes, and 8 good lambs. 18s 4d; 24 good condition ewes and 25 good lambs, ltis 2d.

iHoggets.-JNinety-four, woolly, good average size and condition, 11s 9d; 283, shorn, good size, medium condition, 10s lOd; 97, shorn, .good average size and condition, 10s 8d; 113, woolly, fairly good size, in good order, 11s lid; 38, shorn, big frame, with condition, 13s 2d; 54, shorn, medium size and condition, 8s; 22, woolly, fairly good size, with condition, 12s sd: 30, shorn, good size, ragged wool, good condition, 11s 4d; 38, shorn, fairly, good size and ditto)., 10s 6d. Ewe Hoggets.—Seventy-two, woolly, fairly good size, good condition, 17s 3d; 25, shorn, fairly good size and condition, 'l4s fid; 20, woolly, .fairly good size, fresh condition, 17s Gd.

Breeding Ewes. Thirty-one, to sou'bd mouth, good condition, now about to lamb, 16s 9d.

Empty Ewes.—'Five, in good order, 9s 9d; 19, fair condition, 4s 4d.
