SUPPORT OP HITLER RUSSO-GERMAN TREATY, LONDON, Aug. 25. The Russo-German pact is a direct result of the Salzburg talks, when the Italian Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, conveyed ito Herr Hitler Signor Mussolini’s decision not to support Germany in connection with Danzig unless a Russo-German understanding was firsit attained, says the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. It is now revealed that Herr Hitler at first opposed all except RussoGerman trade negotiations, and declared that he would, not approach the Soviet as an equal. Count Ciano, the correspondent adds, insisted that the Duce would not fight if there was any possibility of Russian intervention. Herr Hitter then agreed ito open Russian negotiations, and the German Foreign Office invited! the Soviet Charge d’Affaires, M. Astachoff, to three interviews, to which he drove in a dosed car.
