JAPAN’S NEW CAMPAIGN

ANGLO-U.S. GOODWILL AIM SOUTH PACIFIC TRADE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Tress Assn.) (Reed. August 31. 2.10 p.m.) TOKIO, August 30. Everything indicates a rapid campaign by the new Government to win British and American confidence.

An officially-sponsored broadcast was made to the United States, while all American residents in Japan are receiving personal letters of goodwill signed by members of th e Diet asking America to help the “fight against Communism which threatens all religion.”

The Minister of Communications is planning to establish a subsidised shipping line connecting Japan with the principal islands of Oceania and New Zealand in order to promote trade between the Pacific Islands and Japan.

If the subsidy is approved, the two lines now operating in New Zealand will be ordered to engage in the proposed service.
