hire-purchase system

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED

(Parliament ary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day,

Some additions have been made to the Hire Purchase Agreements Bill by the Statutes Revision Committee which reported the amendments to the House of Representatives yesterday.

The definition of a “guarantor” has been extended by adding the words: “But does not include any person engaged at the time of giving the guarantee in the trade or business oi selling goods of the same nature or description as the goods referred to in the hire-purchase agreement.” A clause provides for a penalty of £SO, or three months’ imprisonment, for any person who, by disposal or sale any goods comprised in a hirepurchase agreement, or by the removal of goods or by any other means defrauds or attempts to defraud the vendor.
