OPERA HOUSE

ALL-AMERICAN REVUE: “FUNZ-A-rOFI’IN’ ” TO-NIGIIT.

* Bright comedy, colourful presentation, good specialities, and beautiful girls who can dance —the four factors on which any revue depends have been moulded together tor “Funz-a-Poppin,"" the new allAmerican revue which commences to-night in the Opera House, and which is probably the best of the four companies which have toured New Zealand recently. "Funz-a-Pop-pin,’" does not depend only on its spectacle to be "put across the lights." Bobby Morris, probably because of his appearances with the "Hollywood Hotel" revue, is the “Hollywood Hotel" revue, is the most popular comedian. A lively comedy duo are Harry Ross and Eddie Edwards; the way they play round with the King's English is most acceptable. Tommy "Bonzo” Snyder is a comic who is pantomimic rather than, vocal, but he gains results with surprising effect. A minor classic in farce is "The Peace Conference." All the powers are represented; the make-up of the representatives in some cases being of astonishing fidelity—particularly that of Harry Ross as Hitler, and Keith Connolly as Chamberlain. Loretta Grey injects “pep" into evervthjhg she does or .sings. Salici’s Parisian Puppets are a “show within a show." The backgrounds fo r their performances attain a striking verisimilitude, and they must be seen to be believed; so must the puppets, they are so almost human. Certainly is tiiis the outstanding specially. Other specialty acts of note are those of the Carr Brothers, fobt and head balancers; Miss Elsa Lang, I

a pleasing mezzo-soprano, who sings with Murray Green; and Jack Bickle contortionist dancer. Th e Van Twins lend an air of refinement to .the spirit of the ballets in which they are concerned as soloists. “Funz-a-Pcppin’” will be presented agaiq- tomorrow and on Saturday, with a special matinee on Saturday at 2.15 p.m. Orchestral stalls and circle seats may be reserved at Tattersall and ■Bayly’s.
