MAN ROUGH-HANDLED
THREW PARCEL IN CROWD TRACE CONFERENCE’ RUSE (Reed. Aug. 29, n’oon.) •LONDON, Aug. 28. A man threw a parcel among the crowd in Downing Street at midday. It was 'found to contain only rubber balls inscribed, “Peace Conference Now.” The crowd shouted -“Lynch him!" and rough-handled the man. who was arrested.
Many people were knocked down in the stampede, but calm was quickly restored.
